Position Overview:
The Graduate Alumni Engagement, Archives & Social Media Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening alumni relationships through strategic digital engagement, content creation, and the development of a living archive documenting Prescott College’s history. This position is designed for a graduate student or recent master’s-level graduate with a passion for communications, marketing, archival practices, or higher education advancement. The coordinator will manage social media strategy, historical cataloging, alumni storytelling, and engagement initiatives while collaborating with staff to enhance the alumni experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Social Media Strategy & Digital Engagement (20%)

  • Develop and execute a streamlined content calendar for alumni social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, etc.), ensuring alignment with institutional branding.
  • Create multimedia content (graphics, videos, alumni spotlights) to showcase alumni success and campus updates.
  • Monitor trends in social media and propose innovative campaigns (e.g., alumni takeovers, hashtag challenges).
  • Analyze engagement metrics and compile reports to refine strategy.

2. Historical Archiving & Cataloging (20%)

  • Assist in designing and implementing a system for cataloging institutional artifacts, documents, and digital records reflecting Prescott College’s history.
  • Organize and maintain a searchable living inventory (digital/physical) for future reference by staff, students, and researchers.
  • Collaborate with library/archives staff to establish best practices and templates for ongoing use.
  • Conduct oral history interviews or gather written narratives from alumni/faculty to enrich archival materials.

3. Alumni Communications & Relationship Building (40%)

  • Write and edit feature stories, interviews, or blog posts highlighting alumni achievements for the website or publications.
  • Collect and curate alumni stories, reflections, and historical anecdotes for the annual Transitions publication.
  • Assist in segmenting alumni data for personalized outreach (e.g., by graduation year, profession).

4. Event Support & Strategic Outreach (20%)

  • Coordinate promotional efforts for alumni events (webinars, reunions) including digital invitations and follow-ups.
  • Research alumni demographics to identify engagement opportunities (e.g., regional chapters).
  • Assist in donor stewardship through thank-you communications and impact reporting.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; current/recent graduate student in Communications, Marketing, History/Archival Studies, Higher Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 1–2 years in social media management, archival work, or nonprofit communications.
    • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and email marketing tools.
    • Familiarity with archival software (e.g., PastPerfect, Airtable) or cataloging systems is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
    • Strong organizational skills for managing physical/digital archives.
    • Interest in higher education history, community building, and preservation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with oral history interviews or archival research.
  • Knowledge of metadata standards or digitization practices.
