Job Description

 

The Writing & Tutoring Center Center, a member of the Advising and Learning Commons, offers tutoring as a free service available to all Prescott College students, designed to help students progress towards academic success. 

Peer math, science, and writing tutors will:

  • Hold online conferences (or face to face, if on campus) with undergraduate students to assist them with development, organization, voice, and mechanics in the context of a variety of writing tasks.
  • Tutor undergraduate students to strengthen their skills in the content areas (science and math) identified each semester as requiring support
  • Write a summary and assessment of each conference. 
  • Participate in an initial training session and ongoing check-ins with the Center's director.

Specific hours of employment and in-person or remote status will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

 

Job Requirements

Candidates for positions must participate in an interview, and must meet the following qualifications:

 

·       Strong expository, academic writing skills as demonstrated by a 5-10 page writing sample

·       A willingness to learn and apply best practices in all tutoring interactions

·       Demonstrated experience with teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching

·       Graduate student OR undergraduate student in their junior or senior year
