Peer tutors will primarily be involved with undergraduate students in scheduled study sessions to assist students in the quantitative content areas identified each semester as requiring support. Peer tutors must possess excellent critical thinking skills so as to model these for tutees in small group or one-on-one study sessions. If appropriate based on the peer math tutor's skill, they may also provide support to graduate students who need help developing or interpreting statistical analyses. Circulation assistance involves primary duties including assisting the circulation staff in shelving library materials and shelf maintenance; checking library materials in and out, answering the phone; assisting patrons with exceptional customer service, answering questions, and locating library materials. When on duty as tutors, these student employees are expected only to be available to tutor, not to work at the circulation desk. When on duty as circulation assistants, employees are expected only to assist with circulation, not tutoring. Students will work a combination of hours providing tutoring services and circulation assistance, not to exceed 19.5 hours/week TOTAL. |
