Job Description

The Writing Center, a member of the Advising and Learning Commons, offers writing coaching as a free service available to all Prescott College students, designed to help students progress towards academic success.

Peer writing tutors will:

  • Hold face-to-face and/or online conferences with undergraduate students to assist them with development, organization, voice, and mechanics in the context of a variety of writing tasks.
  • Write a summary and assessment of each conference.
  • Participate in an initial training session and ongoing check-ins with the Center's director.

Specific hours of employment and in-person or remote status will be determined on a case by case basis.

 

Job Requirements

Candidates for positions must participate in an interview, and must meet the following qualifications:

 

  • Strong expository, academic writing skills as demonstrated by a 5-10 page writing sample

  • A willingness to learn and apply best practices in tutoring in all writing conferences

  • Demonstrated experience with teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching

  • Graduate student OR undergraduate student in their junior or senior year
